Amanda Brugel

Tessa Tessa Amanda AmandaPointe Claire is a sleepy town on the island of Montreal named"the West Island. There is a West Island, which is often referred to as a separate "island" west of Montreal by those unfamiliar with it is a whole area that is west of Lachine. Amanda Brugel was born there, and it is true. But she only was there for a brief period. Brugel began her life in Courtice just outside Oshawa. Her first ambition was to become a professional dancer but a growth spurt meant that she was able to outgrow the dancers she was with. According to an article in the Toronto Star, she confessed, "In heels I am 6'1 inches tall." Once I outgrew the male dancers I worked with, I quit. Many former dancers turn into acting. In Brugel's case, it was her encouragement from a drama teacher at her high school which led her in the direction she was looking for. Her teacher advised her to audition as Anne in their annual school production. She tried out and eventually was chosen to play the character of Anne of Green Gables. The Fine Arts Talent Award at York University led her to the Theatre Program where she graduated in 2000, with a bachelor's art degree in fine arts.
